Welcome to Preschool!

What a fantastic first few days of school!  We are off to a great start of new routines, teachers, places, activities and friends.  Room L53 has been filled with laughter, smiles and conversation as the children get to know each other (and we get to know them)!

The first few weeks of school we focus on building a loving and trusting community within our classroom through group activities, name games/songs, long periods of meaningful play and stories about friendship.  We have great conversation about what a community is and what people within a community help do for each other.  The children are adjusting to the routines wonderfully.  We also make sure to get plenty of outdoor time with running, jumping and climbing!

A peek at our first few days together...

Happy and HUNGRY preschoolers!  The children are learning the daily lunch routines and are doing a great job using their manners at lunch too.  Eating family style allows for meaningful and quality conversation with the kids.  It is a great time to get to know them!

On Thursday, we went to our first community meeting to kick off the school year with ALL Lower school!  Our CARE theme for the month is citizenship, which we will be learning and talking about in the classroom and within the Lower School community.

We ended the week with sensory exploration in the "preschool project room"!  The children used play dough to create and enjoyed using the sand tables to make discoveries and experiment with different tools and measuring utensils.

Lastly, we had a guest reader in our classroom this afternoon...MRS. BAILEY!

Looking forward to a fabulous year with these friends!

What a wonderful group.  We can't wait for next week!

  1. It looks like the first week of preschool was a great one for the kids in Room L53! I loved reading about all of the things that happened in the classroom, the lunchroom, and the project room. Those smiling faces say it all!
